Layout

Use WPF Layout Controls to define layout rather than explicit position/size settings.  APL/W GUI adepts will be familiar with Posn Size and Attach and know that they can be used to handle form resizes quite flexibly - but this does seem to be one area which is better-covered by WPF.

Let WPF Do The Work

There are a lot more intrinsic properties for a WPF control, some of them will do for you what you might have been accustomed to doing yourself with the native APL/W GUI (for example, wrapping in a TextBox control).
Equally, you can get WPF to do the work of simple callbacks (for example changing background colour when the mouse is moved into a control).

WPF Isn't APL/W

Althogh sometimes the names are the same, there isn't a one-to-one correspondence between APF and APL/W GUI controls; it's a mistake to try and act as if there were.  Study the WPF documentation and explore what you can do - that way there may be a richer GUI just around the corner.
